Progress Report #1
It’s been one month since the Butterfly Project finalists started their journey to achieve the ultimate makeover. While some are still taking it at a leisurely pace, others are really working it out! Chan Wan Lee checks in with them as they pay a visit to Marie France Bodyline, their new slimming sponsor, for a consultation on their diet.

Eating habits: “My office provides breakfast in the morning to motivate us to go to work early, so it’s nasi lemak and mee goreng for me! However, my lunch and dinner meals are irregular due to the nature of my job. I get hungry at about 3pm or 4pm and that’s when I snack on junk food – also readily available in my office!”
Diet history: “There was this one time I tried a diet drink that’s supposed to suppress my appetite. There was no difference because while I drank the drink, I still ate food!”
Current diet: “I’m letting go of my favourite food – rice. I’m not eating it at all now and have replaced it with wholemeal bread. I add sambal once in awhile to get rid of my cravings.”
Biggest dieting challenge: “I’ve been extremely busy at work so when my mind is somewhere else, I don’t think about food much. That may be good, but I get headaches sometimes because my irregular meals mean my body isn’t getting enough carbs.”
Best solution: “I plan to start eating more regular meals in moderation. I think that in itself will be quite tough due to my job.”
Celebrity Fitness progress report:
“I’ve signed up for Pilates classes at Celebrity Fitness. I hit the gym about two to three times a week and when I do, I start off with a 40 minute warm-up session, followed by cycling for 20 minutes and then go for Pilates. If I’ve time after that, I’ll run for another 10 minutes! I feel my stamina coming back and I don’t feel lethargic as often as I used to. I think my body has toned up as well, I can feel it when I put on my clothes. One of the best parts about all this is that my need for cigarettes has gone down. I’ve cut down from one pack in two days to one pack a week, thanks to the exercise!”
